VCIR 2010 – Zettasun
Zettasun is a Boulder, Colorado startup producing a new high-efficiency, low-cost fixed solar panel using our proprietary “embedded concentration” (ECPV) technology. Our rooftop solar panels concentrate at over 600 suns, use no external moving parts, and mount like normal panels. Zettasun’s core IP revolves around a novel embedded optics design that performs both concentrator and tracking functions using a design that is mechanically simple, inexpensive, and reliable. Using existing III-V cells and assuming a modest improvement in their performance in the coming years, the economics for our technology are compelling. Starting in 2011 we can deliver 20%+ efficient panels and ramp performance over three years to 27% panels at a manufacturing cost of less than 60 cents/watt.
