Announcing the VCIR Winter 2009 Presenting Companies
We’ve just released the list of presenting companies for the 2009 conference! I’ve included a list below, or you can click over to the "Presenting Companies" page for future reference.
A few notes on the group of presenting companies: We had a very large number of companies apply this year and the selection committee has worked extremely hard over the last 8 weeks to whittle the several hundred submissions we received down to the 22 companies that were asked to present. Because of the strength of the overall submissions many deserving businesses were not selected to be presenters at this year’s conference (although I’d imagine that many will attend the conference to network and meet with prospective investors). For this year, none of the presenting companies has ever presented at the conference before (either VCIR Winter or VCIR Fall). In past years we’ve often had a few returning companies updating the attendees on their progress and pitch a new financing round - in 2009 all of the presenting companies are new to the conference. The selection committee has also done an outstanding job of picking a diverse set of companies with concentrations in specific industries that map well to the Rocky Mountain region’s strongest investment sectors. In 2009 VCIR Winter will be showcasing some of the best new energy technology ("clean-tech") companies that the region (or the country for that matter) has to offer, as well as concentrations of companies around new web technologies ("web2.0") and consumer products. These are all categories that the Rocky Mountain region is well known for and, importantly, has seen many past successful venture exits.
